Bowling for Columbine concerns the way US citizens are kept perpetually in fear of some unknown bogey-man. As in George Orwell's 1984 it is important to keep people frightened in order to justify 'the state' spending all that money on police, security forces and defence to look after you. balders in expressing cynicism about the timing of our latest terrorist scare.
